I’m about to finish this book, by the time you see this, I’ll surely have finished it. So far, I’m LOVING it, this trilogy has taken an incredible turn, very original and well thought out. It mixes magic and a fantastic world with very good characters, that feel very real.
I’m starting to feel kind of sad because I’ll finish it and really love the story, but I’m excited at the same time, to know what’s gonna happen. I’ll be writing my review for the blog soon, I wanna try to that review to make sense because there’s a lot I can’t tell because is the third book, but I’ll do my best, I want to share my feeling and emotions with you.

OMG, this book!!. I LOVED IT. A While since I read a dystopic world as original as the one in which this story unfolds, and that fascinates me, I can’t wait to continue with the series. It’s very complex because it touches important and serious issues about humanity and life in general. I think it’s worth the hype 👏🏻
Although it was a bit complicated at first because I feel that the characters were weak, that gets much better towards the ending and the author gives us high impact scenes with more mature characters, where we see them face their fear and grow up.
This book has one of the most wonderful world-building and manages very well its sci-fi elements
The ending was really breathtaking 😍
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
Lina is just like any other fifteen-year-old Lithuanian girl in 1941. She paints, she draws, she gets crushes on boys. Until one night when Soviet officers barge into her home, tearing her family from the comfortable life they’ve known. Separated from her father, forced onto a crowded and dirty train car, Lina, her mother, and her young brother slowly make their way north, crossing the Arctic Circle, to a work camp in the coldest reaches of Siberia. Here they are forced, under Stalin’s orders, to dig for beets and fight for their lives under the cruelest of conditions.
Lina finds solace in her art, meticulously–and at great risk–documenting events by drawing, hoping these messages will make their way to her father’s prison camp to let him know they are still alive. It is a long and harrowing journey, spanning years and covering 6,500 miles, but it is through incredible strength, love, and hope that Lina ultimately survives. Between Shades of Gray is a novel that will steal your breath and capture your heart.
So FINALLY, I read this book, I’ve been thinking about doing it since I added it years ago, and I’m happy with the experience I had with it. It’s such an important book, I really enjoyed it, is heartbreaking but at the same time, it’s hopeful and makes you think a lot about life in general. It ‘s a period of time which I think has been very interesting for me to learn more about, I also love the characters feel very real and the writer’s pen is excellent.
I’m very happy and grateful to have read this book together with Rita, she’s amazing, and I had no idea how buddy read worked, but now that I’ve discovered it, I loved it and made the experience something more special. 😊
I recommend it a lot if you usually enjoy historical-fiction, but even if you don’t, please read it! it’s 100% a hard book that will bring out your emotions, but it’s important to read it to inform us and remember all these people who have suffered in the past 💛

I have done this kind of “pause” of what The Book Junkie Trials Read-A-Thon would be, but now that I’ve read a couple of books that were not within the challenge, I’ll be continuing and sticking to my TBR for this INCREDIBLE month-long read-a-thon. Honestly, I’m SO happy to participate! 😄 Ok, so the first book, Scythe, was for the challenge “Orc Grove” and now, my next stop will be “Ol ‘Pirate Cove” and for that, I’ve chosen this beautiful book.
I’ve also chosen this one to read a book “Out of my Comfort Zone”, which is one of the Weaknesses of my Team Mage.
I chose this one for it because a lot of it happens under the water and I don’t know, books that contain pirates or aquatic things, aren’t my jam in general, so we’ll see how I feel about this. I like The Little Mermaid, though. And if this is like a darker version of that, then maybe I can enjoy it! 😍
Guys! Have you seen that I’ve loved EVERYTHING I have read so far? OMG, this year I haven’t had a better month than this one, it has started INCREDIBLE, so I hope to continue enjoying all my readings as I’m doing so far.😊

YES!, Scythe is INCREDIBLE, I can’t believe it has taken me so long to read it, at least now I don’t have to wait so long to read the next books 😄
Oh, Between Shades of Gray is a book which you have to be prepared for, in the right mindset, but it’s SO worth it, so I hope you give it a try and enjoy it as well, honey ❤️

I’ve had Between Shades of Gray on my TBR for awhile now. I need to finally get around to reading it. Glad to see that you liked it so much. I also need to finally read To Kill A Kingdom as well.

Between Shades of Gray, I can tell you it’s an INCREDIBLE book, you have to be prepared for it because it’s a very hard and touching book, but still, SO worth it, it’s a plot that you everybody needs to know about. I hope you enjoy it if you get to read it, as well as To Kill A Kingdom 😊

I’ve been wanting to read Shades of Gray forever! I am just never sure I’m ready for the emotion it brings. I read Salt to the Sea and that one broke my heart. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it.

I know what you mean!, and it’s, honestly, a book with a huge emotional charge due to the topic it touches, even so, it’s so worth it!. And I’m very excited to read Salt of the Sea as well at some point, I should be ready for that, though 😄

I’ve been hearing nothing but incredible things about the Oremere books in the past year, and I have no idea why I still haven’t picked it up! And Scythe is also something I REALLY need to read! I’ve always loved Neal Shusterman’s writing, and how he always tackles important topics in his stories, and I’m sure I’ll love this one too!

I highly recommend The Oremere trilogy, it’s really brilliant and it’s so underrated, it’s a shame, deserves more recognition

Yes!, Neal Shusterman’s writing is something special, really unique and the plot although it’s heartbreaking is also so important and it teaches you a lot, it’s worth it 😊

Oh, I’m so glad you liked Scythe! That’s one of my favorite series! Just wait until you finish Thunderhead. Phew. It’s 10x better than Scythe and 20x the roller coaster ride of emotions. The ending will break you. Just some fair warning. 😉 Happy reading!

Scythe is such an incredible book. I was hooked from the first page. Scythe Faraday was just so interesting and I loved the world. I hope you enjoy the next book as much!

I’ve tried reading chapter one of To Kill a Kingdom, but since I’m still in a reading slump that time, I didn’t finish reading the whole book. Maybe soon, I’ll reread it.

Well, I hope once you try to re-read it you can enjoy it! I go a little more than half, and I’m still not sure how I feel, it has good points but at times it’s a mess, we’ll see 😊

ahhhh yay! I’ve been debating whether I want to read Scythe for forever, because on one hand, the world sounds sooo cool, but on the other, I’ve heard that there is an unnecessary romance and I’m generally not here for those.. I have heard a bit about the Oromere chronicles, and I think someone recommended it somewhere as an underrated series! i hope you love To Kill a Kingdom!!

Scythe’s world is really wonderful one of the most original I’ve read and I get the “unnecessary” romance thing, but I see it more as there’s almost no romance it’s like a secondary thing, so I don’t think it will bother you. The plot is incredible and it leaves you breathless, so no doubt, I think you should give it a chance, the second half gets darker and darker, I love it so much 😅
Oh, The Oromere Chronicles is INCREDIBLE, I can’t believe there aren’t more people talking about those books, are great, the first book is fine but the other two are gems! 😍

Ooh I think I’m going to read To Kill A Kingdom too after I finished my current reads, it sounds like a dark read for summer, which is something I’m in the mood for 😀

I just get into the second half and honestly, it’s not as dark as I expected, the beginning is super solid but right now I’m not sure, I A LOT of many thoughts lol. I hope you love it, though, honey! ❤️
