Synopsis

From theĀ New York TimesĀ bestselling author of the National Book Award longlist titleĀ The Poet XĀ comes a dazzling novel in prose about a girl with talent, pride, and a drive to feed the soul that keeps her fire burning bright.

Ever since she got pregnant freshman year, Emoni Santiagoā€™s life has been about making the tough decisionsā€”doing what has to be done for her daughter and her abuela. The one place she can let all that go is in the kitchen, where she adds a little something magical to everything she cooks, turning her food into straight-up goodness.

Even though she dreams of working as a chef after she graduates, Emoni knows that itā€™s not worth her time to pursue the impossible. Yet despite the rules she thinks she has to play by, once Emoni starts cooking, her only choice is to let her talent break free.

September Wrap Up || Contemporary-a-Thon & My Best Reading Month So far? || 2019 šŸŒ»

šŸŒ»Ā Hi guys!! I hope youā€™re having the best day & youā€™re enjoying your reading šŸ’ž Today I bring you my beloved Wrap Up of the month of September, where Iā€™ll talk about all the books Iā€™ve read during the month. OMG, this month really flew by, I mean, where did it go? It seems yesterday when it was just beginning, it’s crazy. Being totally honest right now, I’ve nothing really crazy or excited to tell you about this month in terms of my life as such, I’m SO boring šŸ˜…, it was quiet, relaxing I guess, and I’ve been trying to connect more with myself during September, I’ve been meditating, which is really helping me a lot with my anxiety. Spring began where I live, so right now I’m quite envious of all those who are going through my beautiful AutumnĀ šŸ‚Ā , I swear that autumn is my favorite season, I love the landscapes and the weather a lot, so enjoy it for me.Ā šŸ˜Ā Ā
As you know, I’ve changed many things on the blog and it makes me happy that most of you liked, honestly.Ā šŸ„°Ā Ā

In terms of reading month, has really been an AMAZING month, in fact, it’s my best month of the year so farĀ šŸŽŠ, if I know, WHAT! LOL. I’m super excited, I didn’t expect to read so much cause I had honestly gone into this weird moment where I didn’t know what I wanted to read and wasn’t sure, so I decided to follow my intuition and it was perfect, I found books that I LOVED, so I really can’t complain. You’ll see a little as I did in terms of number in my statistics section, but I’m really very pleased with what I’ve achieved because even though I have several short books, I’m proud of myself.Ā šŸ˜ŠĀ
I’ve read the ARCs that I set out to, so that’s always good, I have a couple of short stories that have surprised me, both for good and for bad, actually. Then we have another small stack of books that were very anticipated by me, and I think that in general, I’ve enjoyed most of the things I’ve read. I’ve even given a couple of 5 stars, and you know that’s weird for me, so YAY, celebrate with me!!!Ā šŸ„³Ā Ā
I participated, as always, in the Contemporary-a-Thon, in the link you can see all the information related to it, and the truth is that I LOVE this read-a-thon, it’s one of my favorites, I always find very good books when I participate and this time wasn’t the exception. In fact, OMG, I almost forgot to mention it, a miracle happened and you know what? … I COMPLETED ALL THE CHALLENGES!! *victory dance*
I think that setting a more realistic goal was a good idea, so super happy with the results.
I’m dying to start talking to you about the books, tell you a little about my statistics and share some of my faves post of the month. So, let’s start!Ā šŸŒ» Read More »

Contemporary-A-Thon TBR || Round #5 || 2019 šŸ’›

Ā šŸŒŸĀ Hi, my beautiful bookish people, I hope you’re having an incredible start to the week, full of light and good energy, I send you from here all my love!Ā šŸ’•Ā  Today I bring you as you can see by the title my TBR for this fifth round of the Contemporary-A-Thon, I’d already told you that I would be participating so it’s not a surprise, but I hadn’t yet show you what I’ll be reading, so this post is exclusively for this and so, of course, for you to tell me if you’ll be participating and what you’ll be reading! I would love to know.Ā šŸ˜ŠĀ
Contemporary-A-Thon is a read-a-thon that I’ve already participated in a couple of times and I really LOVE it, you know that I love fantasy so sometimes I forget about my contemporary books a bit and this is the perfect opportunity for me to concentrate on them and try to read some. I know that I’m not a fast reader so because of this, I’ll not be making an impossibly long TBR, on the contrary, I’ve put together a list where I could comfortably pass all the challenges finishing only 1 book, obviously that wouldn’t be fun, so I’m adding 2 books more, so I have a TBR of 3 books, so I’m quite pleased with my small stack and I’m very excited to talk to you about them.
it’s going to be running from Monday 9/23 to Sunday 9/29, so if you want to know more about it and you want to participate, then I’ll leave Chelsea’s video here below, where you can clarify all your doubts and you can also see the promps.Ā šŸ‘šŸ»Ā
I know that the read-a-thon starts today, but I don’t know if I can start it lol, maybe I’ll start tomorrow because today is my 7 year anniversary with my boyfriend and obviously we ll be celebrating that and I’m probably not even be at home today, but I’ll try and do my best, the important thing is having fun, right?. Now, without further ado, let’s start!šŸŒŸRead More »

September Wrap Up [2018]

Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de SPRINGTIME (1)

Ā šŸŒøĀ Hi Guys!, I hope youā€™re having a beautiful day, today Iā€™ll share with you my September Wrap Up, where I tell you about the books that Iā€™ve read during the month.Ā I feel so pleased with myself for everything I’ve managed to read this month, not only because the quantity is good, but for the quality, as I always say, and also because this month I managed to read all the books that were in my TBR and I could even read one and a half more, so YAY! I’m really happy with my month, it has been amazing, I’ve also had a new experience that was participating in the Contemporary-A-Thon and it was really fun. I think that thanks to the read-a-thon I’ve pushed myself to read more and discover that I’m capable of. So I hope to be able to participate again in another one, I don’t know if this year, but we’ll see, the important thing is that I had an incredible time and also I could share it with all of you which is what makes me happyĀ šŸ’•

This month I read 7 books, which is incredible for me, so as I said before, super happy with my amount. We have a lot of contemporary, of course, among them mystery, romance and a new format which has greatly surprised me, but also a dystopic re-reading. I haven’t had really bad readings, like BAD ones, well maybe one lol, but I can say that I’ve enjoyed almost everything that I’ve read, in different levels, but I did. I read a total of 2369 pages, OMG that sounds like a lot, I don’t usually count my pages read but I think it can be an incentive for me, so I maybe start doing it

I’ve reached 1000 followers on my Twitter, and this is not something that I’m obsess about, in fact before I didn’t even look at it, but I feel so grateful for the support and love that I’ve felt in that social network, as well as here on the blog, so I just wanted to say that if you’re one of those people who actually follows me somewhere, here, on Twitter or even Goodreads, I’m infinitely grateful to you, really. It feels like a lot of love and it’s a great incentive to continue giving the best of me every day

And now, without more further ado, I’m dying to tell you all about my readings of this month…Read More »

After her suicide, Sunnybrook High disbanded the cheer squad.Ā No one wanted to be reminded of the girls they lost.

That was five years ago. Now the faculty and students at Sunnybrook High want to remember the lost cheerleaders. But for Monica, itā€™s not that easy. She just wants to forget. Only, Monicaā€™s world is starting to unravel. There are the letters in her stepdadā€™s desk, an unearthed, years-old cell phone, a strange new friend at school. . . . Whatever happened five years ago isnā€™t over. Some people in town know more than theyā€™re saying. And somehow Monica is at the center of it all.

There are no more cheerleaders in Sunnybrook, but that doesnā€™t mean anyone else is safe.

I’m a little sad that it’s over but honestly I’m super happy to have participated, as you know I hadn’t picked a lot of books because I know I wasn’t going to be able to read them all and I honestly wanted it to be a fun experience and it really was! I think I’ve proven myself that I’m able to read much more than what I actually read per month and that makes me very happy. Probably what I’ve read doesn’t seem like a lot for many of you, cause I know that you all have read a lot in this Read-A-Thon, but for me it was fantastic and I’m very pleased about it.Ā So without further ado, I’ll tell you how it was…Read More »

Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de SPRINGTIME (5)

šŸŒøĀ Hi babes! I hope youā€™re having a great day. Today I bring you my TBR of the month of September, where I tell you about the readings that Iā€™ve planned for this month.Ā I’m super excited for this month I feel it will be super fun with the new experience of participating in a Read-A-Thon and I also feel super motivated to read, I think I’ll have time to do it which makes me very happy, my boyfriend is resuming his reading so that’s great since I can spend my time with him also reading a lit of bit, which I love doing, so I really don’t have excuses not to read as much as I want and finally knock out my TBR.
I’m going to use this month to read a lot because I know that I’ll be busy in October as I plan many renovations in my house, painting and that kind of thing and with work will be a bit crazy and I don’t know if I can read that much, but I’ll see how I manage. Meanwhile I’m really excited by my readings this month in general and I can’t wait to tell you the readings that I reserve for the Contemporary-A-Thon!

I’ll be reading a couple of books that I’ve wanted to read since ever, a re-reading, a couple of new releases, an ARC and something completely new for me, so without further ado let’s start!šŸŒøĀ Read More »

Hi guys, I hope you’re having a beautiful day, I know it’s difficult to start the week but, well, you can do it and from here I send you all the positive vibes for your weekĀ šŸŒŸĀ

I’m so excited to share this with you, you’ll know what it’s about by title lol, but anyway I want to tell you thatĀ I’ll be participating in my first Read-A-Thon ever!!šŸ˜„. This is so excited really. I never wanted to do one before, because honestly I wasn’t sure how they worked and the whole thing of the reading pressure in such a short time made me kind of anxious, but I have always always enjoyed reading your updates of your participations in these challenges and I also believe that they’re my favorite videos to watch made by Booktubers, so after thinking about it a lot I decided that maybe it was time to, at least, try it for myselfĀ šŸ’ŖšŸ»Ā Read More »
